- Time Saving Benefit- ProgrammableFlow provides the ability to manage both physical and vitual networks with seamless integration into a virtual server environment, thus enabling servers and virtual machines to be provisioned, migrated and decommissioned without requiring network reconfigurations. Network and security policies follow virtual machine migrations automatically.
- Integration- The first OpenFlow-based virtual switch is now available. This switch extends the benefits of ProgrammableFlow SDN to Microsoft Hyper-V customers with a single control plane across physical and virtual network environments. VM mobility is supported through NEC, which automatically detects VM migration and reprograms the OpenFlow rules to ensure seamless migrations to the new locations.
- Reduced Network Administration Expenses- Utilizing OpenFlow, flows can be moved off of devises without interrupting network sessions and hen an end point, such as a VM, moves physical locations, the policy automatically moves with it. A design for automation extends to third-party systems that can make on-demand calls to the API to create, edit and delete virtual networks, as well as to add and remove policies. This has resulted in production customers reducing ongoing administration expenses by as much as 80%, in combination with the resource efficiency provided by ProgrammableFlow.
There are additional advantages that we will share with you once you've requested a network assessment or similar survey, that will include dynamic customization of network traffic, enablement of intelligent routing decisions and provisions of greater flexibility and new business models for private and public cloud deployments.
