I’ve written several blogs over the past 2 to 3 years relating to NEC Phone Systems, VoiceMail, Call Centers, etc., but have never really provided the real reason to our customers or even potential customers why Mercury has made NEC our exclusive product offering.
I believe a good place to start may be by quoting Meg Whitman, CEO of HP. “Since the advent of the telephone nearly 140 years ago, we’ve seen technology-and the telecommunication industry’s application of it-progress by leaps and bounds. The future of telecommunications will require all the technological resources in our arsenal to meet demand.”
Meg’s quote is a good lead into why I wanted to write a brief blog about NEC Corporation. When most of us in the Telecom industry think about NEC, we automatically associate NEC with phone systems, unified communications, call centers, wireless devices and collaboration. When referring to managed services or networks period, the convergence of voice and data does not usually lead us to the realization that NEC was actually the company “behind the scenes”, providing the solutions to the challenges “at hand”. For example, when we talk about high availability, data backups, virtualization, help desk services, technology escrow and electronic content management, we may think of Cisco, DELL, HP and others, but NEC doesn’t always come to mind.
In addition to what was previously mentioned, NEC provides solution sets for:
- server and storage solutions
- IP voice and data solutions
- biometric ID solutions
- optical network products
- visual display systems
- car2car communications
- space robotics
By now hopefully you are beginning to see some of the reasons why Mercury Communications and other telecommunications companies have decided to “hang their hat” on NEC. NEC is a world leader in the technology arena that continues to provide diverse communications strategies, award-winning solutions, a strong global commitment to R&D and providing innovative technologies. NEC has presence in 44 Countries, over 65,000 Patents, $32.6 Billion in Global Sales and is consistently ranked in the top 3 communications manufacturers in the U.S and Globally.
