Some of you that just read the title to this blog are already asking yourselves, “has Mercury lost their mind” or “maybe they’re from a galaxy, far, far away”? You’re saying, Managed IT Services has been around in some form or fashion for decades.
I get it, but to the contrary, I’m not referring to Managed IT in general terms, but to Managed IT as it relates to Mercury Communications and the services that we have provided, as well as the services we are going to be providing.
When Mercury opened our doors in Austin, we were a company that sold, serviced and installed telephone systems and that was it. As years progressed and we saw the divestiture of SBC and the problems that came about with customers being given the opportunity of purchasing dial tone from multiple carriers (some good and some not so good) Mercury saw a need.
The need, and frankly the request, from many of our customers, was that Mercury assist them with their dial tone options and orders. Once the internet was introduced, many companies now had the need for bandwidth requirements for the first time, and many of them didn’t have a clue what they needed, how much they needed or from whom to purchase it. Mercury made a decision to become a master agent for one of the major “players” in town and before we knew it, we were assisting the majority of customers with their dial tone and internet service, in addition to their phone systems.
Fast forward to 2016, almost 2017, and we have the “missing link” which has been Managed IT Services. For the last several years, Mercury has been providing Hosted PBX Solutions, Enterprise Solutions, Voicemail Solutions, Voice Carrier Solutions, Fault Tolerant Servers, Contact Center Solutions and Cloud Solutions, but until recently, we did not have a Managed IT Solution.
I’m very pleased to announce that as of January of 2017, Mercury will be providing fully Managed IT Services for all existing and new customers.
Services will include but are not limited to: Infrastructure Scans and Report Reviews; Infrastructure Mapping Tools; Monthly Vulnerability Scanning; Fully Managed Servers; Fully Managed Desktops and Infrastructure Architect Design Services.

Many of our customers have been looking forward to the day that Mercury Communications could manage their entire voice and data infrastructure and I’m pleased to say that the day has finally come.
